With a background in Fashion Design, Ann-Kristin Abel has graduated with a MA Design in Textile Futures from Central
Saint Martins in 2011. With a fascination in neuroscience, one of the main drivers behind Ann’s work is the poetic
power of a material and our ability to create meaning from the interaction with something physical. Her approach
utilises not only fashion and textiles but also looks at science and emerging technologies to probe and craft
visions of a possible human future.
Born and raised in Germany Ann studied Fashion Design at the Akademie Mode und Design in Düsseldorf under the
creative direction of Gabriele Orsech and moved to London in 2009. Ann has recently co-founded design initiative
vectors with fellow designers Miriam Ribul and Paul Ferragut.Their first collaborative project was the curation of
Design Beyond Making, an excursion into resource discovery, material development, and process innovation.
The exhibition was showcased at Protein Gallery on 18 Hewett Street.
